I had a bit of a revelation today. I've been wrong all this time about what type of learning I have been teaching. I always thought that as a trades its psychomotor, its not! The idea behind psychomotor is that the student will learn a set of skills they can apply in the job world, things like lockwiring, engine inspection,
But the fact is that we are teaching the students how to think like an aviation mechanic. How to look in the manuals, analyze data, interrupt graphs and instructions . This is all cognitive learning and a bit of affective learning too. We are changing the way they think about their job. Its pretty neat to see how they change their views for week 1 thru week 64.
